From Concept to Completion: A Stunning Custom Kitchen

Mike Maginn and Jeff Maginn worked closely with their client to design this custom kitchen to create a gathering space that feels both sophisticated and inviting. The result is a highly functional kitchen that balances clean contemporary lines with the warmth and character of natural materials.

At the heart of the kitchen is an oversized island featuring richly stained wood cabinetry topped with dramatic quartzite (natural stone) countertops. The substantial island provides generous prep space, casual seating for four, and serves as the central hub for entertaining and family gatherings.

We used a crisp white shaker style for perimeter cabinetry which creates a bright, timeless backdrop. Matte black hardware adds contrast and a modern touch. A custom-built wood range hood adds warmth and architectural interest, drawing the eye to the full-height quartz backsplash that extends from countertop to ceiling. We love the natural veining in the stone.

Thoughtful details elevate both beauty and functionality throughout the space including: professional-grade appliances, a convenient pot filler, farmhouse sink, and ample storage solutions that support everyday living. Also, Jeff designed and built a custom bar and beverage area which features glass-front cabinetry, wine storage, and display shelving. Besides functionality, this space adds visual interest to the kitchen.

Glass pendant lighting above the island provides an elegant finishing touch, complementing the kitchen's open and airy feel.
